A woman went viral on TikTok after confessing that her controversial wedding restrictions led to the demise of one of her seven-year friendships.
Cora Breilein, a lifestyle and beauty influence from California, shared the story in a candid TikTok rant that has been viewed more than five million views times.
Breilein and her then-fiancé Jared tied the knot on April 22 in California, setting strict limitations to their invitation list in a bid to keep the celebration intimate.
The rules were simple – wedding guests could bring boyfriends, girlfriends, fiancées, or nuptials, provided that the bride and groom had already met them before the event.
The move, however, came at a pricey cost; the demise of her relationship with a friend whose partner did not meet the guestlist criteria.

“Our wedding felt so special and intimate knowing everyone was there,” Breilein explained in a clip.
The incident was addressed in a TikTok post, plastered with the caption: “Lost a 7+ year friendship over not inviting a bf I never met – our wedding felt so special and intimate knowing everyone there.
She went on: “It’s worth weeding people that aren’t interested in being part of your life out.”
Viewers were outraged by the bride’s inflexibility, with one barking: “Pure INSANITY if you can’t bring your partner to a wedding if you’re not married.”
Another wrote: “So my partner of four years wouldn’t be welcome? Wouldn’t even attend.”
Breilein addressed the responses in a follow-up post, saying: “It [was] just about [inviting] people who will be in our lives long-term.
“If I never met their boyfriend or girlfriend, I did not feel comfortable inviting them. I think what everyone needs to understand is the FAQs were there because we wanted to have an intentionally small wedding and we wanted to know every single person there.
“But a lot of people have a ‘no ring, no invite’ rule, and we were not that strict about that.”
Despite receiving an overwhelmingly negative response from viewers, Breilin stands confidently by her decision and claims the event was a success.
“I know my wedding day, I know it was a success. I had a lot of fun, my fiancee had a lot of fun, our friends and family had a lot of fun… and that’s all that matters.”
