Dr. Azadeh Shirazi is a dermatologist and expert on the best products to keep your skin looking younger and brighter. She recommended her ultimate skincare product, dubbing it the “superstar of anti-ageing.”
Dr. Shirazi explained: “The most effective anti-ageing ingredient after sunscreen is retinoids. These are the most studied and supported to reverse the signs of ageing.”
In the video on her TikTok account @skinbydrazi, the doctor listed the benefits of retinoids, which include smoothing fine lines, improving the texture of the skin, boosting collagen production and minimising hyperpigmentation.
She explained: “Not all retinoids are created equal since they have to be converted to retinoic acid to work their magic. Retinaldehyde is the most effective.”
Dr. Shirazi highlighted one product in particular that she believes is the most effective to brighten skin and make it look younger.
She showed a bottle of the screen and said: “This (serum) from Youth To The People combines it with niacinamide to brighten the skin.
“Since retinoids can cause irritation, it is best to use a formula like this one with hyaluronic acid, squalane and vitamin E to restore moisture and…strengthen your skin barrier.”
The Youth To the People Retinal Serum can be found on their website but also in major retail stores such as Sephora. On their website, YTTP has said that the serum can “smooth textured and blemished skin, improve the look of fine lines and wrinkles, and brighten uneven skin tone.”
The price of the product is $69 (£57) for a 1oz bottle of serum or $23 ($19) for a 0.27 oz bottle.
Dr. Shirazi explained her directions for how she uses the products. She said: “Apply one to two pumps at night on clean skin, before your moisturiser. It has a lightweight texture and rubs in nicely.”
The skincare expert highly recommended the serum, and said: “I saw an immediate improvement and skin hydration.”
In the TikTok comment section, people thanked Dr. Shirazi for her skincare advice, and a lot of people were amazed at the dermatologist‘s skin as well. One user wrote: “You’re absolutely gorgeous!” while another commentator wrote: “You’re so beautiful, I need your skincare routine.”
Somebody else wrote: “Thank you for this info, you are stunning!” to which Dr. Shirazi replied: “Thank you so much beautiful.”
The doctor also answered questions skincare enthusiasts had about the product. One woman named Trish said she was in her late 40s, and wanted some advice on a skincare regimen. Dr. Shirazi replied: “I would use a gentle cleanser vitamin c in the AM with SPF, then retinol like this at night.”
Another woman named Ana asked what age was best for young women to begin using retinol products. Dr. Shirazi replied and said she recommended people in their 20s or 30s use the serum.
