Bailey’s Garage in Brecon Road in Abergavenny is selling some of the cheapest unleaded petrol in the UK, forming massive queues in the process. The queue of cars – which has reached up to a mile long – is expected to remain there until the garage closes tonight.
The garage’s general assistant Cerys Holland said that the price of their BP petrol had gone down two weeks ago.
Since then she said it has been “bonkers”, adding that the staff “don’t stop”.
She explained that Bailey’s is currently offering petrol that is about 20p cheaper than prices at other local stations and even cheaper than ones further out.
The 34-year-old has worked at the local garage for 12 years and said the queues were unprecedented.

Eliot Sheean, the owner of Eliot’s Taxis nearby, said the influx of vehicles sometimes blocked off the road as drivers waited to fill up.
He added: “When they go in and out they’re queuing up, indicating left to go in and blocking [Brecon Road] off.
“So people have got to wait for the cars to go through the petrol station before they can go down Brecon Road.”
The last time the family business was this busy was during the fuel shortages, but they said even that doesn’t compare to how it is now.
Another driver, Caterina Ventura, who works as a student veterinary nurse at Riverside Vet Care, which is also right next to the garage, says the queues are constant.
She said: “We can see loads of cars queuing up. It’s all day really but mostly in the morning there are loads.”
This comes as drivers around the UK engage in the second fuel protest of the month, protesting against the near-record prices.
Disruption is expected in Cardiff as well as major cities in England like London, Birmingham, Bristol and Manchester.
Avon and Somerset Police warned motorists that “slow-moving roadblocks” are planned on parts of the M4, M5, M32, and A38.
